Shea Moisture African Black Soap Facial Regimen
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Facial Regimen
Alright, let me start off by saying if you buy these individually it's way more expensive. I got this set at 16.99 and the soap alone is normally about $5 so I found this set very well priced.
I'm going to break down this review into four parts and touch bases with each product and how I felt about them individually and then as a whole.
All of the products claim the same thing in this line:
Helps refine skin while addressing problems associated with acne. Skin feels clean and refreshed.
• Made with natural and certified organic ingredients.
• African Black Soap is a natural remedy for blemished, troubled skin.
• Tamarind Extract is a natural astringent which helps exfoliate and brighten skin.
• Tea Tree Oil promotes healing with naturally anti-septic properties.
Soap Bar
How did I live without you all of my life? I would buy fifteen of these at once if I felt like they were going to be discontinued. I kept hearing about the wonders of black soap but this is my first time trying it. When I was my face with this I feel very squeaky clean. Honestly this is probably the cleanest a product has ever made my face feel. I need to buy another to put in my gym bag, this thing rocks. I feel like it's helped brighten my complexion and get rid of some of my bumpy forehead acne.
Also my skin feels super soft after using this, I also use it on my neck and chest to keep any bumps from popping up.
This is my favorite product from the set.
Scrub
A basic facial scrub like my biore/clean and clear/up&up/etc facial scrubs. Has the big exfoliating beads in it. I feel like this one is creamier, in a moisturizing way. Probably shea butter I'm assuming? But the one downside to this product is it smells AWFUL. It's at a borderline point for me where I can tolerate using it but hold my nose when I do. It's not even a scent that might grow on you (like noxzema has for me) but then again I'm sure some people may not hate it or even like the scent.
Moisturizer
Basic moisturizer, doesn't wow me. I really don't have anything else to say besides that. Also I dislike the tub, I prefer and feel like its more sanitary to have it in a bottle/pump.
Cream Mask
Garbage.
I do NOT have sensitive skin. I will start with that.
I use the whole regimen for this one night instead of using one at a time. All of the other products were fine and I liked enough but this....It felt fine on my face until I washed it off after I had a intense itching feeling. My face was blotchy and red and I instantly used my clairsonic and some cleanser and washed my face repeatively. I followed with a sensitive skin night cream and my face calmed down. I would give this away but I'm afraid it'll happen to someone I know and they'll hate me. If I'm brave I'll try it one more time and use nothing beforehand and see if it was a odd reaction to the other products...but I really doubt it since all I used were products from the same line that night?
All and all I would probably return this set if I didn't feel like it as too complicated to do so. I'm not wowed by anything except for the soap bar. The value is incredibly good if this works for you but if not keep everything to try and return it, I may still try to return mine if I can...
But as I said earlier, even if I returned this I'd buy 50 soap bars because they rock and I love it.
I purchased this product at my local Target for $16.99

New purchases, reviews coming within the week!
and a bunch of other boots and N07 products, I have about 6 hits, 2 misses and a middle man(a decent product but the smell is so offputting!) product to review. :)
Oh also thinking about doing some hair care/products reviews that I prolly won't do until after all my skincare ones are done but let me know if you'd like to see some sooner!

What I'm Loving Wensday~
New Kindle Fires
Ugh! I made the mistake of living in a box. I could have had this for Christmas but instead I asked for other things! I am saddened, maybe it's not to late to ask for Amazon giftcards and start stockpiling! I have the original Kindle fire and I'm over due for a upgrade!
FFXIV
Need I say more? My blogging is lacking and you can blame the oncoming patch and events.
Baking
In the last week I managed to bake at least 12 dozen batches of cookies. I'm having a baking addition. Help.
Mason Jar Cookies
Thanks a lot of pintrest for having me so addicted to mason jars. I've filled over half a dozen, now I just need ribbons and pretty things to decorate with. I also now want to find red and green m&ms to make Christmas Cookies!Friday, December 6, 2013
Call it a semi-hiatus

Lazy Blogger, whoops
Oh wow, I haven't posted since my last what I'm loving Wensday. Bad Blogstress, Bad. I'll be posting up a winter nail art photo/mini tutorial if my nails decide to STOP BREAKING. I blame the cold front.
Also things have been hectic with the kids and my husband starting school last Monday. ALSO, It's almost time for my bake-a-thon!
Every year I go holiday baking crazy, this year it's pretty extreme.
Since I'm at work with a broken oven I couldn't actually start my bake-a-thon! So I did a lot of prep. Turns out you should really really REALLY check how much is in your cookie recipe before you try to put it in a mason jar. I tried to put my cookie recipe in a mason jar and as I was going down the list I forgot it had over three cups of flour, my jar was nearly full already. It was not going to work at all. So instead I put it in a 64oz holiday tupperware container and it fit with a little extra room to spare.
So I'll be using that one for cookie baking since it's already done.
I also have to bake one of my mason jars since I halfed it! I have to make sure it comes out correctly and also the original recipe calls for 3 eggs, I'm going to bake the halfed recipe with 2 eggs and see how it goes! I really need new measuring spoons and baking bowls for xmas. My measuring spoon numbers managed to rub off, that's what I get for shopping cheap I suppose!
I'll post photos of how the jars turn out after I add tags and ribbons and all the pretty things! Also I'm going to be doing mason jar pies, I'll be posting the recipe for that! I'd post the cookie recipe but it's a family secret and I would be murdered.
Anyways later this week expect pictures of my bake-a-thon, hopefully all goes well in my kitchen considering it's so tiny. My kitchen is a oven, sink, one block of counter space. That's it. I have a microwave cart acting as a island/extra counter space because the small piece of counter I do have has my coffee machine and coffee and tea tins etc. I wanted to buy a island but my apartment is too small for that thought. It's an open floor plan and my guest futon folds out into the kitchen area! I can't wait to move in July!
Also I'm thinking about doing a mason jar cookie mix giveaway but I am still somewhat unsure if anyone actually reads my blog...I guess we'll see!
Also for anyone who is nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free or vegan, I'm working on a peanut butter imitation cookie recipe. I hope it turns out well. Some products may be processed in the same factory as nut/tree nuts/etc but I'm going to try and find all products without that warning to avoid a cross contamination issue. I have the recipe list that I compiled from looking at many recipes but I just have to buy it and bake it before I share!
My what I'm loving Wednesday post will be posted later tonight.

Top and left are chocolate chip cookie, center jar is chewy brown sugar cookies and right is sugar cookie. I managed to do six mason jars and the tupperware before running out of flour, go me! |
